Boys will be boys - Starfucker
Don’t know how many of you have heard of Starfucker, but this is stuff you can jump to.
Kudos to the awesome name as well!
Parlez-Vou-Francais? - Art Vs. Science
French + techno + MIMES + Pretty good quality youtube = Win.
Enjoy!
WWJD? - The Axis of Awesome
If any of you remember the “4 chords” song that’s been floating around the internet forever, this is the same band.
The Axis are Australians, their lead singer looks like Jack Black, and they are freakin’ hilarious.
Check out the rest of their stuff over youtube (although most of their better things are on their album. Google it.)
Through the Roof ‘n’ Underground - Gorgol Bodello
Not too sure how many of you watched Wristcutters: A Love Story (hint: watch it now), but this song features prominently in the movie.
For some reason, the simple beat kinda stuck with me all this time, and the lyrics and tune gave me a good laugh.
Not sure about how many of you have heard of Test Icicles before, but I’ve just (re)discovered them on my ipod recently, and i thought I’d share the love. Interesting beat and usage of guitar effects in this one.
This song is Circle Square Triangle.
Time for another band recommendation, now with an album!
Self-titled - The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
Okay, in the annuals of weird song topics, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart stand out, chiefly for their song “This Love Is F***ing Right”. I’ll let the lyrics speak for themselves:
in a dark room we can do just what we like/
you’re my sister, and this love is f***ing right
I mean, jeez.
Anyways, they sound kind of like a happier version of Dandy Whorls, faster beats included. They currently have one album (this one) and 2 EPs out, and strangely gave themselves the oxymoronic genre “indie pop”
All in all, still good music, so who cares what genre they play.
Listen to: ”This Love Is F***king Right” [Youtube], “Young Adult Friction”
Peas.
